Treatment and Rehabilitation for Children, Adolescents, and Adults
Today, at GÓRKA Specialist Hospital, patients of all ages are primarily treated for orthopedic and trauma-related conditions. The facility offers comprehensive orthopedic and rehabilitation services. Initially, it was the first sanatorium for children in Poland. The idea to build it in 1918 was initiated by Dr. Szymon Starkiewicz. The hospital has been admitting patients since 1926.
Over the years, the facility has been expanded. Currently, it is a modern center for treatment and rehabilitation. It operates four fully equipped hospital departments:
- Orthopedic Department for adults – 18 beds
- Orthopedic Department for children – 6 beds
- Comprehensive Rehabilitation Department for adults – 58 beds
- Comprehensive Rehabilitation Department for children – 43 beds + 9 beds for caregivers
Four specialist outpatient clinics:
- Pediatric Trauma-Orthopedic Surgery Clinic
- Adult Trauma-Orthopedic Surgery Clinic
- Rehabilitation Clinic
- Ophthalmology Clinic
The hospital features an operating block with two rooms, one of the most modern imaging diagnostics laboratories (X-ray) in the region, and an extensive treatment facilities, including a module with a cryochamber. Care is provided by a qualified team specializing in working with people with disabilities, especially children.
GÓRKA Specialist Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Hospital is also a respected training center for shoulder and knee arthroscopy. Procedures not performed at other facilities in Poland are regularly carried out here. The hospital’s treatment offerings are continuously expanding — same-day cataract removal surgeries are now performed.
With Care for the Youngest
An important part of GÓRKA Specialist Hospital’s mission is close cooperation with patients’ families. The hospital organizes training sessions for parents, helping them continue their child’s rehabilitation at home. Accommodation for parents and caregivers is available on-site.
The Special School Complex (Zespół Szkół Specjalnych) in Busko-Zdrój operates within the hospital, allowing children to continue their education based on the curriculum of their home schools, without interrupting their studies. The qualified teaching staff specialize in working with children with special educational needs. Young patients also receive psychological and speech therapy support.

At the Heart of Nature
The hospital is situated on a hill surrounded by a park. An added benefit is the outdoor gym, which, along with the picturesque landscape, encourages physical activity and relaxation in the fresh air. The facility also has its own kitchen and dining hall.
GÓRKA Specialist Hospital combines the professionalism of its medical team with high service standards and an environment that supports recovery. The hospital provides services under the National Health Fund (NFZ) but also offers private healthcare options.
