Sanatorium and Hospital Treatment
Professional care, natural therapies, and a comfortable stay. Two health resort hospitals and four sanatoriums offer top-level services. During a 21-day treatment program, patients are entitled to 54 therapeutic procedures.
Information for Patients with a National Health Fund (NFZ) Referral
1. The stay at the hospital/sanatorium begins at 2:00 PM on the first day and ends at 12:00 noon on the last day.
2. Meals begin with lunch on the arrival day and end with breakfast on the departure day.
3. No packed meals are provided for meals not used on the arrival or departure day.
4. Patients arriving at the Health Resort must bring a name referral issued by an authorized institution, valid medical documentation, health insurance card, ID card, and a supply of regularly taken medications for the entire stay.
5. Uzdrowisko Busko-Zdrój S.A. does not provide room reservations; rooms are assigned on the day of arrival.
6. Patient registration is carried out at the reception desk of each facility. After completing formalities, the patient receives a room assignment. Unauthorized room changes are not permitted.
7. Patients are required to pay for their stay and the local tourist tax upon check-in.
8. Exemptions from sanatorium for adults fees apply to:
- employees involved in the production of asbestos-containing products (under separate regulations)
- children and youth up to the day they turn 18, or 26 if continuing education
- severely disabled children – with no age limit
- children entitled to a survivor’s pension
9. If resigning from health resort treatment before it begins, the referral must be returned immediately to the NFZ Regional Office.
10. An additional fee is charged for renting a kettle or television.
11. At the start of the treatment program, each patient receives one bath towel, which is exchanged for a fresh one halfway through the stay. If the patient wishes to exchange towels or bed linen more frequently, an additional fee will apply according to current rates.
12. Accommodation for married couples in double rooms is possible only if such rooms are available upon arrival. Uzdrowisko Busko-Zdrój S.A. does not guarantee shared accommodation for couples.
13. A fee for “vacant room days” is charged in case of unjustified, untimely arrivals or early departures of NFZ patients.
14. Patients using an NFZ referral must be independent and capable of self-care.
Due to the NFZ’s refusal to cover the cost of “vacant room days” in the case of patients referred to Uzdrowisko Busko-Zdrój S.A. who start treatment late, leave early of their own accord, or discontinue the program without authorization, the management has established the following compensation policy for unused referrals.
The average cost of a “vacant room day” resulting from unused stay periods defined in the NFZ referral is set as follows:
-
Sanatorium stays:
- Willa Zielona / Oblęgorek Sanatorium – PLN 172,00 per person/day
- Marconi / Mikołaj Sanatorium – PLN 176,00 per person/day
- KRYSTYNA Health Resort Hospital for Comprehensive Rehabilitation – PLN 176,00 zł per person/day
-
Hospital stays:
- PLN 239,00 per person/day
This does not apply when the delayed arrival or shortened stay is due to:
- reasons attributable to Uzdrowisko Busko-Zdrój S.A.
- the patient’s illness preventing timely arrival or continuation of the stay
-
reasons beyond the patient’s control, including:
- documented illness of a close family member or a dependent
- death of a close family member or a dependent
If the cause of delay or early departure (e.g., illness or death in the family) ceases to apply, the patient must return to continue the health resort treatment according to the original NFZ referral. Failure to resume treatment within the appropriate timeframe will result in the patient being required to cover the cost of “vacant room days” for the unused period.
If the patient does not pay the “vacant room day” charges, they must submit a written statement: see the statement template. The signed statement regarding future payment must be submitted to the Uzdrowisko Busko-Zdrój S.A.’s Finance Department within 3 days. If the payment is not made by the deadline indicated in the statement, a VAT invoice will be issued with a 7-day payment term and will also serve as a formal payment request. Failure to pay within the invoice deadline will result in debt collection proceedings.
